Card #7

Red Dragon
This was the first big seller.  I don't recall how much it went for at auction, but it was much more than I had expected any of the cards to sell for.  It ended up getting bought by a great personal friend of mine and when I visit him I need to see it, just to be sure it's still being taken good care of.  Of course the originals of any of the drawings far outdo the scans that end up on the net.
I still think it is one of my best cards and captures my style very well.  I really liked the colors I chose, though it would have been better titled Orange Dragon.  The way I used the frame really makes the dragon feel larger.  I dig the sky, blue and partly cloudy, or misty, depending on how I feel.  I left the eyes empty, because that's a great way to make them look "all seeing."  I learned that from a movie about Jim Henson studios back in the 80s.
In tangent with that, I recently watched The Dark Crystal, one of Jim Henson's brain children, which was also one of my childhood favorite movies.  Never do that.  Let movies in the past stay there, because when you go back and see it again with fresh adult eyes, it's not the same experience.  I still enjoyed parts of it, but was really let down overall.
Now back to art.  This card made me think I could really someday, become an artist worthy of his living.  I must draw.
