Card #6

Oh this poor goblin...He comes all the way across treacherous monster infested lands to offer up his affections to the lovely young lady who is his hearts only desire, just to be let down when she explains her own vain ambitions.  "I'm in college and you're...a goblin." she mockingly explains.  And so true love will have to wait until the competition of a higher education.  Little people sometimes have big hearts and this one is breaking.
I think it was the attitudes of some of the personalities around me at school that inspired this drawing.  It is one of my favorites, because it is not just a drawing, but a story piece.  I saw too many people (and still do) who feel as though any other life activity during college would eliminate their ability to function.  I wish I could be as "busy" today as I was in college.  Likewise, some will put off valuable relationships in favor of some other, less significant pursuit, only to later realize they hurt their own happiness in the process.  Life, it turns out can be summed up in one word, "people."
If I could draw this today I would add some level of background, maybe a sky or something, just to eliminate the white space on top and compliment the bricks in the foreground.
